Reporting Services Architecture



One of the options was to include when you installed SQL Server 2008, 
Reporting Services. At the time, you completed a default Native installation, which built two data-
bases and created the necessary setup required to be able to build reports on your desktop. I also 
mentioned that if you were in a larger organization, it was possible to set up using SharePoint as the 
report repository.

Reporting Services Features



SQL Server Reporting Services provides a middle-tier server that runs under Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS), allowing you to build a reporting environment on top of an existing Web server infrastructure.

You can build reports that draw data from the data servers that you have in place for any data source type that has a Microsoft .NET
